Check Your Site Conditions
Is 2xEDGE right for your project?
Your soil and site conditions determine whether 2xEDGE Staples will perform as expected. Check each condition below before you order.
Loamy, clay, or firm native soil
Ideal conditions. Staples grip firmly and hold lumber in place.
Hard, compacted, or bone-dry soil
Might work but may require soaking the ground thoroughly the night before. Dry soil with no give will resist installation. Probing* is recommended.
Extremely sandy or loose soil
Staples need soil resistance to grip. Very sandy or loose soil won't provide enough hold.
Rocky soil, roots, or buried debris
May work in patches. Probing* is recommended.
Existing pathways on a prepared base
Compacted/crushed gravel, stones, or sand base under a pathway will block staple installation.
Installing next to a sidewalk or cement pour
Can work, but cement that extends beyond the visible sidewalk into the soil underground can block staple installation. Read the full guide before installing.
*Probing: use a long screwdriver or rod to test your install line for resistance before you order.
